The rooster pecked: Sandu bowed to the Russian Ambassador - to ask for Sputnik V
President of Moldova Maia Sandu met today with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau Oleg Vasnetsov.
She reported this on her Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The priority now is to ensure that our citizens have access to effective vaccines of all types to the extent possible. “I emphasized once again, as during previous discussions, that we would like to receive assistance from the Russian Federation for faster access to the Sputnik V vaccine, given the need to speed up the vaccination process,” Sandu wrote.
Previously, both the Moldovan opposition and the Transnistrian authorities accused Sandu of unwillingness to buy the Russian vaccine. The pro-Western president begged the Astra-Zeneca vaccine from Romania, but as it turns out, the Moldovans did not want to be vaccinated with it.
“First of all, the problem was here with us in the first place. We said that we need this vaccine, but we saw mixed statements from the presidential administration. In February, the Russian Ambassador promised 200 thousand vaccines, and then 300 thousand every 3-4 weeks. But then they blocked the possibility of registration in Moldova,” former President of Moldova Igor Dodon said yesterday on the NTV Moldova TV channel.
Now, according to him, the Russian vaccine has already been registered in Moldova.
“I believe that the first delivery will be humanitarian. I really hope that we can get something before the end of March. Because now we have Astra-Zeneca, half of it is in stock: no one wants to get vaccinated. If we received 100 thousand of Sputnik V, it would all be gone in a couple of days,” Dodon said.
He believes that by the end of April Moldova should purchase a million doses of the Russian vaccine.
Another Moldovan politician, the scandalous mayor of Balti Renato Usatii, said that he was vaccinated with Sputnik V in the United Arab Emirates (he is under criminal investigation in Russia).
