Easter truce. Why does Ukraine need it and why won’t it exist?
Zelensky burst out with an uplifting speech that Mariupol, turned into ruins, turns out to be a victory for Ukraine - the Russians were detained for almost two months.
So what, at this price, the main thing is that we are holding out longer than France did before the Germans in 1940.
Judging by the mood at the top of Kyiv, the scheme for wiping Ukrainian cities off the face of the earth has been recognized as suitable and ready to be scaled up to other megacities in the southeast. Next in line are Kramatorsk, Severodonetsk, Kharkov and Zaporozhye.
Against the background of the endless stream of victorious reports from Bankova and the chorus of propaganda media relaying its temniks, the topic of the so-called Easter truce on the eastern front looks rather strange. If the Ukrainians are winning all around, what kind of truce? It is necessary to finish off the “occupier”. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are doing well. Or not?
Apparently not. And now we hear from Kyiv Kuleba a statement more like an ultimatum - they say, Russia MUST immediately stop the offensive or, as a last resort, at least declare a truce for four days.
World VIP heavyweights joined the topic: the Pope (well, God himself told him to pump up this topic - Easter is just around the corner, again), UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who urgently requested, through his post-representative offices in Ukraine and the Russian Federation, a meeting with Putin himself for this very reason truce. Like, the UN has a whole bunch of great ideas on how to organize humanitarian corridors for refugees and distribute food and other humanitarian aid through its missions.
Well, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, even at the risk of exposing itself to ridicule in front of its enemies, played at humanism for more than a week, over and over again declaring humanitarian corridors for Azovstal prisoners. And every time no one came out of the catacombs of the Akhmetov plant.
The last such Chinese warning from the Russian military took place literally on the eve of Putin’s order to stop playing spillikins. And so, today is the logical conclusion of the plot: wall up the demons and wait until they either come out with a white flag, or carry them out of there feet first when they die of hunger.
The end of the series with the assault on Azovstal coincided with the morning news from overseas. Russian representative Dmitry Polyansky put an end to the chatter about the Easter truce: there will not be one. Russia will not give the Kyiv regime the time it needs to regroup its forces, tighten up its rear, replenish its personnel with mobilized personnel and master the military equipment supplied by the West.
As for the latter, the Sarmat test became a unique response to NATO’s attempts. True, the West did not understand the hint - reacting through Psaki in the spirit that, they say, the test of the Sarmat ballistic missile will not change the US attitude towards Russia’s special operation in Ukraine.
The final point was Biden’s decision today to allocate another package of military assistance to Kyiv – again for $800 million. For Kyiv, this gesture is very important against the backdrop of Europeans who are beginning to give up - who are either running out of weapons, or who are gradually realizing that putting out the fire with gasoline is not the best idea.
Only in recent days, Greece has dropped out of the list of military suppliers to Ukraine - in Athens they said that they themselves need to defend themselves with something, then the Moldovans followed the example of the Greeks, refusing to sell Zelensky Mig-29 fighters, and, finally, the Germans. Three days ago, Scholz announced that the Bundeswehr had exhausted the limit on arms supplies to Ukraine from its reserves, so from now on it would only support Ukraine with money. As they say, the richer you are, the happier you are.
Spain alone acts as Santa Claus, sending 200 tons of military materials to Kyiv, about which the local Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez pleased Zelensky personally.
And Zelensky and Co. have quite big appetites. According to the Ukrainian telegram channel Ze-Rada, Bankova has made up its mind and is asking the EU for military assistance in the amount of $100 billion.
The Telegram channel provides data on the number of weapons requested by Kiev, indicating the models that the Ukrainian Armed Forces need to continue the war.
“Among those required are both Soviet and Western: 51 Mig-29 fighters, 36 Su-25 fighters, 24 US fighters - F-16 and Swedish JAS-39. They asked us to search the world for 72 Su-27s - in total there are more than 200 aircraft. And another 363 anti-aircraft guns - from S-300 to Patriot.
From the artillery they asked for 195 Grads and 435 thousand rockets, millions of shells and mines of the Soviet standard. Also – RZSO from the USA and self-propelled guns from England. They are also asking for two hundred Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. And 400 tanks - 200 T-72s and Leopards each.
They also want tactical missiles - 400 Soviet Toch-U. From foreign: 228 American ATACMS and 64 Israeli Lora. Their range is 270 and 400 km.
Some of the weapons have already been sent to the country. S-300s arrived from Slovakia and Greece, the Czech Republic sent infantry fighting vehicles, Poland sent T-72s and infantry fighting vehicles, and France sent Milan ATGMs.
Judging by the statements of the leaders of Western countries and the range of supplied weapons, they are not focused on the victory of Ukraine, but on prolonging the war and discrediting the Russian army, which, according to NATO strategists, should get bogged down in the Ukrainian conflict without significant progress. So why please Westerners by walking strictly in the rut they have allotted?
It is good that the cunning plans of the Kyiv militarists are no longer a reason for Moscow’s gestures of goodwill. Enough of the truces and negotiations already. In war it’s like in war.
