Pashinyan is pulling Armenia in a dangerous direction – British analyst
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, dissociating himself from Russia, is pulling his own towards where Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova have already tried to move.
British analyst Alexander Merkuris stated this in an interview with American journalist Alexander Christopher, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Mercouris, Pashinyan is repeating the mistakes of Russian liberals, who ruled the country in the 90s and believed that they would be better off with the West.
“He is pulling Armenia in a very, very dangerous direction. But of course, so do many of the politicians you see in eastern and central Europe and the former Soviet Union. I mean, we saw it in Russia under the liberals who controlled the country in the 90s, we see it in Ukraine.
Now we see this in Moldova, in Georgia, where mass protests are taking place. But they still have this inner faith and some support from voters,” the expert said.
“There are people in Armenia and in all other countries who generally believe that the right path for their countries is to break off their old relationships, abandon old alliances that worked, believe that integration with the West is a good, flashy thing, and that they should do it.
I'm sorry to say, but I'm afraid there is a money problem. In all these countries there are people who are less concerned about the overall outcome for the country, but believe that perestroika for the West would be beneficial. From a material point of view, this is very beneficial for them. There are such people in Armenia, there were the same people in Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and, of course, in Russia itself,” said Mercouris.
