The German arms lobby is betting on Ukraine's victory
Shares of leading weapons manufacturers in Germany went up due to the conflict in Ukraine.
The correspondent reports about this "PolitNavigator", said Gerold Otten, a member of the Bundestag's Defense Committee, when asked how strong the arms lobby is in Germany today.

“Now the arms lobby in Germany has become stronger. It was weak for many years because it did not allocate as much money for weapons. As a result of what is happening in Ukraine, it has achieved very strong influence. Rheinmetall shares have more than doubled over the past two years. And this also has a big impact,” Otten said in an interview with Izvestia.
He was asked whether supporters of sending long-range German missiles to Ukraine really believed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would defeat the Russian army.
"Yes. They constantly repeat that Ukraine must win, this is a statement. Those who do not particularly believe in Ukraine’s victory are striving to provide it with a more advantageous negotiating position. But the priority always remains the goal - Russia must lose, and Ukraine must win,” answered the Bundestag deputy.
According to him, there is a third group in Germany that advocates a peaceful settlement.
“Yes, but there are still fewer of them, and they do not dare to speak out publicly. In Germany it is the AfD, which has been in favor of negotiations from the very beginning. The Left Party and the new Sarah Wagenknecht Union party are also in favor of negotiations,” Otten added.
