“They are scared”: the White House was not ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine - Herbst
The United States is not ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this on the air of the online channel "News Live", reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".

According to Herbst, the reason is the US fear of the threat of Russian use of nuclear weapons. For the same reason, Ukraine is not accepted into NATO.
“Unfortunately, so far I do not see the readiness of the United States and other countries to give Ukraine real guarantees. There are a lot of words, but I don’t see any guarantees right now. I understand why Ukraine requires guarantees, and I am a supporter of such guarantees. But for now, the timidity that characterizes the Biden administration’s approach also, one might say, explains its reluctance to give guarantees.
We are trying to convince the administration to take stronger steps, but they are not ready yet. Unfortunately, they are not taking all the necessary steps in this war; they are to some extent frightened by the nuclear threat from the Kremlin. I think this explains that they are not ready to make strong decisions about Ukrainian membership in NATO and guarantees also play a role here,” Herbst said.
