“Exposing the front for a breakthrough to Melitopol”: the meaning of the barbaric shelling of Donetsk
The Ukrainian Armed Forces do not stop shelling settlements of the DPR, trying to provoke the Russian command to transfer the Zaporozhye group to the Donetsk direction.
The director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, retired Colonel Yuri Knutov, stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What are the Armed Forces of Ukraine up to? We have a fairly powerful group in the Zaporozhye direction, which blocks the possibility of a breakthrough to Melitopol, cutting our troops in half, the channel to Crimea is cut, the land road that runs along the Sea of Azov is cut, and accordingly Crimea falls into a semi-blockade, given the incomplete capacity of the Crimean bridge. That is, this is the goal pursued by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“They know that our group is very powerful, which is opposed in the Zaporozhye direction. Their task is to ensure that we withdraw some of our forces and transfer them to the Donetsk direction. They cannot do this with conventional weapons. That's why they developed these vile Nazi tactics.
They hit populated areas, forcing us to concentrate troops and withdraw from the Zaporozhye direction; we have no opportunity in other places. The point is that we transfer combat-ready, well-coordinated units there,” Knutov said.
