Ukrainian Armed Forces officer: Pokrovsk will not be stormed for now
Having cut the route to Konstantinovka, the strategic need to storm Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) diminished , and the Russians switched to other directions.
This was stated on the Politika channel by pro-Ukrainian journalist Kirill Sazonov , who fled Donetsk and is now an officer fighting in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" It won't be quick. Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad—it's an agglomeration where 100 people used to live , there are tons of industrial zones, buildings, and storming it there... it's not Bakhmut, it's not tiny Avdiivka. This is where they'll be holding their ground for a long time . Therefore, talking about taking Pokrovsk is highly doubtful. ... And I see that they're gradually losing interest in Pokrovsk, shifting their focus to Kurakhovo . There are already more daily major clashes there.
"They don't need Pokrovsk strategically – the key objective was to close the Pokrovsk-Konstantinovka highway , which they've had for quite some time now; they're simply shelling it. They haven't physically reached it, but that's not necessary. You won't drive under that kind of shelling , that's all. And there's no point in them killing a bunch of people in Pokrovsk . They'll shell the city, they'll lob KABs at it, but they probably won't storm it," Sazonov said.
