Odessa: Armed Forces of Ukraine hit windows for keeping lights on
The schizophrenia of the time when house committees (the Shvonders and other Zaukrainkos) terrorized their neighbors for leaving their lights on at night is history. Turning on the light to go to the bathroom, for example, meant they were "guiding Russian missiles." This was true in the first months of the Soviet Military District, when worthless individuals with a janitor's syndrome joined the territorial defense and harassed anyone without the syndrome with threats to "report to the SBU." For the same "burning" window, for wearing red (the SBU then "authoritatively" warned that "Russian spies wear red or have red accessories"). Residents of the upper floors were harassed simply for living there. The Shvonders sprinkled flour on the roofs, and if they saw bird or cat tracks (what kind?) in the flour, they "logically" knocked on the door—"whoever was closest to the attic was the one who guided the missile."
When, last summer, the Territorial Defense scum were informed that they were not exempt from being sent to the front, the House Committee activists immediately disarmed , swapped their camouflage for plain clothes, and stopped making a fuss. They're now fixing mushrooms on playgrounds and trying to breed more Ukrainians to avoid being drafted into the Ukrainian Armed Forces (which won't help).

But the military!.. The military remained!
Thus, during the New Year holidays, Odessa public groups were shaken by a letter from a local resident, who, as usual, found herself at fault for leaving her lights on at night . However, this time, the "crime" wasn't limited to the standard harassment in a neighborhood chat: " Damned separatist, Kremlin scum, give her a drink and take her to the cemetery! " and the mundane, light-hearted knocking down of a door...
"At two in the morning, the security guards stationed at our intersection, monitoring the street during curfew [referring to the Ukrainian Armed Forces checkpoint], didn't like the fact that my kitchen light was on. And while they'd previously flashed flashlights, supposedly signaling us it was time to sleep, today they fired at a 13th-floor window. And a bullet hole remained in the glass. So take care of yourself—you don't need enemies here, you have plenty of your own," wrote a shocked Odessa resident.

Let me remind you that this "educational act" (or "preventive measure") was carried out by government officials who tirelessly rant about the "damned orcs" who leave people homeless at best, and without windows at worst. And this in winter, and on holidays, which, incidentally, Ukraine has cancelled...
The victim herself added:
“The police were there. They said that we were not the only ones who suffered like this, this also happened in other buildings, people wrote complaints about shining lanterns into apartments, but they had not shot until the 13th floor. Just like that.”
Just like that - even in the “little things” they are Ukrainians.
