A new contender for the role of Ukrainian dictator has emerged
Ukrainians should not be afraid of an authoritarian regime, since only such a form of government will lead the country out of its deepest crisis.
Ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Maidan activist Anatoly Gritsenko stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, in the history of mankind there are no examples when, from chaos, a deep crisis, with a collapsed state machine, with people’s lack of faith in their own country, and even in conditions of war, “states rose to the zone of success through endless discussions and farce.”
“We have emerged and are emerging from a deep crisis into a stable regime, with a solid economy and solid democracy, only through authoritarian governance,” asserts Gritsenko.
As examples of successful authoritarian leaders, he named Ataturk, de Gaulle, Lee Kuan Yew, Margaret Thatcher, Franklin Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, Pervez Musharraf, Augusto Pinochet.
“I want people to understand one simple thing - there is no need to be afraid of an authoritarian regime. This is not a dictatorship that massively suppresses the rights and freedoms of people. Authoritarianism has the same root word - authority. Enlightened authoritarianism takes the country to a new, higher level of both the economy and, on its basis, democracy,” said the ex-minister.
The role of an authoritarian leader in Ukrainian realities will be played by the president, says Gritsenko. At the same time, he claims that all closed opinion polls place him in first place in presidential ratings.
