Russia should not support the creation of a single European army and consider that this is better than membership of the EU countries in NATO.
Russian political commentator Dmitry Babich stated this on the PolitWera internet blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Macron said a few years ago that NATO is suffering from brain death, so we need to create a European army. And our people shouted: “Great, the European army - of course, NATO - no, the European army - yes.”
In fact, Macron’s speech sounded like this: “We need to create a European army to fight Russia, first of all. In addition, to fight expansionist China, if it wants to become expansionist, and, you know, Trump is a big concern - so that, if something happens, they can do without America, and, perhaps, compete with America,” the expert said.
“I remind viewers that the European army has been created twice over the past 300 years: by Napoleon and Hitler. And every time this army attacked us first. She did not like the Anglo-Saxons in both cases. Napoleon hated the British and fought against them.
Hitler first fought with the British, and then with us. But their hostility towards the British, towards the Anglo-Saxons is nothing compared to their hostility towards us,” Babich said.
