Obama was left alone with problematic Ukraine
Paris – Kiev, February 04 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – Following Merkel’s harsh statement categorically refusing to supply weapons to Kiev, the US and the French did not support the idea, Reuters reports.

“France will not for now supply weapons to Ukraine to fight pro-Russian separatists,” French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Wednesday.
“We have no intention of supplying weapons to Ukraine at this stage,” Le Drian said at a joint press conference with his Canadian counterpart Robert Nicholson.
Let us recall that a number of American officials yesterday initiated a discussion about the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine. Official Berlin, and now official Paris, responded to the initiated discussion with a sharp refusal.
Defense Minister Le Drian reiterated Paris' position that a political solution to the crisis was needed and that Europe would insist on continued sanctions.
“Russia’s position towards Ukrainian separatists is not acceptable,” he said. We will continue sanctions, but at the same time we must avoid any steps to make the situation worse and lead to even greater tension."
