Unauthorized rallies in Russia on January 23 and 31 in support of the arrested liberal blogger Alexei Navalny were promoted by foreign social networks and information resources working in the interests of the West. Participation in destabilization was also recorded from the territory of Ukraine.
This was stated by Vasily Piskarev, chairman of the State Duma Commission for the Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia's Internal Affairs, at a meeting, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“For quite a long time, on the largest foreign Internet platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, as well as TikTok and the YouTube service, the manipulation of Russian children began en masse, as if on command, by distributing prohibited information, namely calls for minors to participate in unauthorized rallies in Moscow and other cities of the Russian Federation on January 23 and 31 of this year.
American social networks staged a massive, intrusive advertising campaign of fakes about the so-called victims of peaceful protest. Recommendations for watching fake news on the YouTube online service appeared absolutely everywhere, even after watching children’s films.
The Commission has examples that citizens of foreign countries, including those from Ukraine, are involved in these illegal calls and fakes.
In order to attract the attention of Russians to illegal actions, foreign information resources organized live broadcasts; broadcasts in a biased manner were carried out by foreign media: the American Radio Liberty, the Current Time TV channel, Deutsche Welle, MBH-Media, YouTube channels " Navalny Life and NEXTA,” Piskarev said.
The politician also said that the commission examined the work methodology of the organizers of uncoordinated actions and “identified the similarity of scenarios and the similarity of the actions of foreign instructors” with what happened at the protests in Hong Kong and Belarus, including the collection of data on security forces and their public disclosure, manuals with plans actions upon arrest, etc.
