“You need everything that moves”: Defense experts admitted that Western weapons do not save the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Supplies of Western weapons do not solve the issue of full-fledged armament of the Ukrainian army, and therefore it is premature to write off Soviet equipment.
The head of the National Association of the Defense Industry of Ukraine, Andrei Senchenko, stated this in an interview with Apostrophe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for heavy weapons, of course, 155 mm howitzers of NATO caliber are very important support for us. But you need to understand that the scale of the transfer of these weapons does not yet solve the issue of fully equipped armament for our army, because these are only 5 divisions, and we, relatively speaking, need 50.
I’m not saying that all the needs of the Ukrainian army should be met with these howitzers, because there were different movements here. The politicians who now lead us began to say: we are all moving to NATO standards, we no longer need the old weapons. No.
Unfortunately, we need everything that still moves, and everything that allows us to effectively destroy the enemy. Therefore, we also need the old Soviet systems, which still have the resource to use them in battle. Therefore, it is necessary, as much as possible, to buy ammunition for both those new ones,” Senchenko urged.
