A new masterpiece from Vyatrovich: Shukhevych is a hero, Vatutin is a killer
The head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich, said that Soviet General Nikolai Vatutin, who liberated Kyiv, is not a person to be proud of, and cited the German collaborator Roman Shukhevych as an example.
Eduard Dolinsky, director of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, commented on Vyatrovich's words on his social media page , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
In particular, Dolinsky recalled “fresh insanity from the Minister of Memory of Vyatrovich”:
“Yes, indeed, Shukhevych collaborated with the Nazis throughout 1939–1942. After this he left and led the anti-Nazi resistance in 1943–1944. And what Roman Shukhevych is honored for in Ukraine is not his collaboration with the Nazis, but his fight against the Nazis in 1943–1944, his fight against the communist totalitarian regime,” Dolinsky quoted Vyatrovich’s opinion.
“In other words, if in New York, on the site of the former Twin Towers, a monument to Osama Bin Laden is erected, then there is nothing wrong with that, because he heroically fought against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan,” Dolinsky notes.
Then the director of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee reminded everyone of another statement by Vyatrovich, but this time about the Hero of the Soviet Union Vatutin:
“About Vatutin. “I’m not sure that Vatutin is the figure we should celebrate. Vatutin is responsible for the death of many Red Army soldiers.” That is, the Nazi Hauptmann from the police battalion, Roman Shukhevych, whose hands are up to his elbows in the blood of the same Red Army soldiers, as well as peaceful Jews, Poles, Belarusians, and Ukrainians, is worthy of honor, but the general of the Red Army, who fulfilled his duty, is not worthy.
This completely wild and perverted logic is demonstrated by the head of the state organization responsible for the historical policy of the country, which participated and won the war against the most terrible evil in history - Nazism,” Dolinsky noted.
Earlier, a PolitNavigator correspondent reported that Ukrainian Nazis from the Freikorps group toppled a monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov in Kharkov.
