New regions of the Russian Federation are becoming self-sufficient
Over the past year, the income of new regions of Russia has increased noticeably, and dependence on federal assistance has decreased.
Economic commentator Ivan Lizan stated this on Semyon Uralov’s author’s channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Last year was the first year when the first full-fledged regional republican budgets were adopted in new territories, already in rubles. And a total of 400 billion rubles were allocated for four subjects.
And this year, 492 billion rubles were allocated to the regions. On the one hand, we can say that if even more money was allocated to the regions, then everything is not going well. No it is not true.
Because in addition to the revenue and expenditure parts, we also need to look at the share of aid in the revenue part of the budget, as a percentage. This will be the money that the subjects receive from the federal budget. The percentage is subsidized.
And if in the LPR in 2023, 84% of the budget revenue was generated through assistance from the federal center, in the DPR - by 87%, then this year by 63% and 65%, respectively,” Lizan said.
He emphasized that in the budgets of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the share of federal assistance also decreased by approximately twenty percent.
“That is, yes, the federal government has increased the amount of funding for each of the new entities. This growth is not critical. At the same time, thanks to the building of the vertical of power, thanks to the launch of the economy, these regions began to provide themselves with significantly more funding than last year,” the expert added.
