Ukrainian authorities blamed Simferopol for the destruction of the North Crimean Canal
Kherson, May 19 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Chairman of the Kherson Regional State Administration Yuriy Odarchenko believes that unskilled workers destroyed the structures of the North Crimean Canal in Crimea.

“Crimea’s plans that, having captured the structures of the North Crimean Canal, they would be able to supply water to agricultural producers and reservoirs, did not come true. They filled these services with unqualified people who, we have information, have already destroyed the very structures of the North Crimean Canal on the territory of Crimea, and are trying to take water outside the structures, simply by breaking through some ditches,” Odarchenko noted.
According to him, the problems of Crimea are not connected with the Kherson region, but with those people “who call themselves the authorities of Crimea.”
The regional state administration states that agricultural producers in the Kherson region now receive Dnieper water for their needs from the North Crimean Canal in all territories served by this canal.
As Navigator reported, on May 8, the water supply through the canal to Crimea was stopped. At the same time, in the Kherson region, the water in the canal moves by gravity: the expensive equipment of the canal’s head structure, as well as intermediate pumping stations, has become unclaimed. Financial receipts from farmers of the Kherson region are negligible in comparison with the millions of hryvnia that Crimea paid, experts explained to the agency. The enterprise will not have the funds not only to staff and maintain the canal, but also to maintain the riverbed in normal condition, which could lead to its destruction.
