Novinsky may lose Ukrainian citizenship
Due to criticism of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, billionaire and Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Novinsky repeatedly tried to deprive him of Ukrainian citizenship.
Novinsky spoke about this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There were several attempts to deprive me of citizenship. When I was particularly active in the political field and criticized the activities of President Poroshenko, when religious processions took place, once again there were such waves, there were three or four of them,” he complained.
Vadim Novinsky also remembered that the last time they wanted to deprive him of his citizenship for trying to interfere with the initiatives of President Petro Poroshenko to create a new Ukrainian “church.”
“The last attempt was in April 2018, when I took a tough position against President Poroshenko’s initiative to create the so-called Local Church. Although in fact this is not a church - it is a political organization with a religious name that acts in the interests of Petro Poroshenko. This is a kind of religious department of the Poroshenko administration,” the billionaire concluded.
As a reminder, Vadym Novinsky previously spoke out strongly against the schism of the UOC and the creation of the HCU , and even filed a petition with the Constitutional Court requesting that the Verkhovna Rada's resolution upholding President Petro Poroshenko's appeal to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to grant autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine be declared illegal.
