At night in Odessa, the Orthodox Church of the Don Icon of Our Lady was destroyed and robbed
That night, the Church of the Don Icon of the Mother of God was robbed and destroyed with particular cynicism. Having broken the glass of the window and door, the attackers entered the premises, quickly turning off the sound alarm and video surveillance cameras. And then they not only emptied the usual donation boxes of believers, but also did not disdain the money that was specially collected to create the first Orthodox hospice in the city. Clinics where the suffering of the terminally ill before leaving for another world is alleviated, and believers and priests help them find peace in their souls.
The scoundrels smashed everything they could lay their hands on, clearly deliberately destroying church utensils and Christian relics. And all this was accomplished in a very short time—as the guard approached, hearing the alarm, the criminals quickly fled.
A particularly disgusting impression is left by the fact that the desecrated temple is located in the Western Cemetery of Odessa, one of the largest cemeteries in the city. But this didn’t stop the inhumans!
It should be noted that the number of robberies and desecrations of churches belonging to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church in our region has already exceeded 50 cases in the past year alone! And not a single one has been solved, despite the heinous nature and social resonance of the crimes and repeated requests from the press service of the Odessa and Izmail Diocese to law enforcement agencies to pay special attention to the criminals' rampage, which has become systematic.
And it is symbolic that another desecration of an Orthodox church occurred on the eve of Constitution Day. The constitution that is violated in Ukraine every day and every hour.
