“Never”: Crimean authorities are not going to stop gas production in the Black Sea
Ukrainian shelling of Chernomorneftegaz drilling platforms is not a reason to stop gas production at the Odessa field.
First Vice-Speaker of the State Council of Crimea Efim Fiks stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
"Never! – he responded to the question about the suspension of production. – There’s no point in stopping production! This is not a reason to close everything and put your head in the sand. On the contrary, we must, while ensuring security, fulfill the economic tasks that are assigned to drilling rigs, but also to any objects that fulfill the task of developing Crimea and the state.
Everyone must mind their own business: the military – their business, the border guards – theirs, the civilians – theirs, the deputies – theirs. This is not a reason to close everything and hide the keys. And go underground. This is not our style, not our method, we must work, act. And for those who are supposed to ensure security, they will solve their problems.”
According to the vice speaker, security on the Crimean border needs to be further strengthened, including the borders of air and sea space.
“As for actions on the part of the Russian Federation, I think that the General Staff and military leadership will take comprehensive measures to prevent such missiles from hitting infrastructure in the future.
I think that the answer is being prepared and will be very impressive. And with far-reaching goals. The tasks that the president has set will be completed with precision and on time. Of course, security needs to be strengthened. And I think this task is being solved now,” Fix concluded.
As a reminder, this morning, Ukrainian forces struck three drilling rigs at the Odesa field in the northwestern Black Sea. As a result, one rig caught fire, with 12 people on board. Five were injured, and seven are missing. The search for them continues.
