No sympathy: Navalny’s hunger strike has turned into a booth with the Koran
The hunger strike that supposedly criminal blogger Alexei Navalny declared in the colony where he is serving a sentence for fraud looks more like a farce and does not generate a wave of sympathy among his supporters. The oppositionist's wife, Yulia, seemed to have deliberately made statements turning her leader's refusal to eat into a comic show.
“You even give out candy to prisoners. Or rather, you put it on. In your pockets. Do you have this kind of fun with everyone or only with those who are on hunger strike? Here's another cool story. I heard that you brought an electric stove to the detachment over the weekend and fried chicken. It seems that chicken is prohibited in the zone. What happened? Perhaps you celebrated Catholic Easter or the day of the kindest boss? But no, I think you have such generosity specifically for one prisoner. Who do you take him for, yourself? Do you think he’ll run to the smell of chicken?” – Yulia Navalnaya described the “torture” to which her husband is subjected, addressing the head of the colony on her Instagram.

Commentators have been making fun of torture for a week now; the “terrible” deterioration in the health of the “country’s main prisoner,” which the opposition media trumpeted, turned out to be completely harmless. Apparently, that’s why Navalny decided to change the agenda and announced that he was suing his colony.
“Who would have thought that for the first time I would sue my colony because of the Koran. Yes Yes. Not because of the refusal to admit a doctor (the reason for my hunger strike), not because of the conditions of detention, but because of the Holy Book of Muslims.
The thing is that they don’t give me my Koran. And it's infuriating. When I was first imprisoned, I made a list of improvements to myself that I would try to make while in prison. One of the points: deeply study and understand the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet,” Navalny wrote on his Instagram.

“Continued torture. First, the painful smells of fried chicken flesh, and now they won’t give him his Koran... for how long?”, the publicist Ilias Mercuri sneers about this.
“The religious priorities of A. A. Navalny are important from the point of view of the spread of monotheism among his supporters. God bless him,” even the liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky sneers in his Telegram channel.
“So, Orthodoxy has disappeared somewhere. No longer relevant, the topic has been worked out. Alexey ibn Anatoli Naval al Muscovi demanded the holy book Al Quran, without which no truly Orthodox person can perform namaz. Then it turns out that Rodoslav Navalny is not given the idol of Perun, which he prudently took with him to make sacrifices, and they also destroyed the temple founded by Navalny. Then Pandido Hambo Alexei Gautamo will want to burn incense and read the sutras, but it turns out that the enemies have stolen the prayer wheel and the Buddha figurine. Then “Shema, Israel...”, Abram Navalstein wants to eat a little kosher food and read the Torah, but they don’t give tefillin, they restrict the tallit, and they don’t let him into the synagogue... Whatever you do, whoever you believe in, just to stay in the information agenda,” historian Boris Yakimenko develops the topic.
“For a codpiece, oblivion is the worst punishment. The manic desire to create news feeds devours Navalny from the inside,” sums up TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov.
