“Nowhere in the world has there been anything like this”: – Rada deputy on the “uniqueness of Ukrainian fascism”
In Ukraine, linguistic xenophobia is flourishing, in which all Russian-speaking citizens are strangers.
This was stated by Yevhen Shevchenko, a Verkhovna Rada deputy expelled from the presidential Servant of the People faction, on the internet blog of Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Shevchenko, this is a unique phenomenon that has never happened in the world.
“You and I are observing a phenomenon that previously did not exist in the world – and, in principle, in politics. I’m now talking about a specific one, I haven’t read this anywhere, I came up with it myself - this is the linguistic xenophobia that is happening in Ukraine. What is it? Ukrainian-speaking people, in fear of the Russian Empire and Russian aggression, perceive their fellow Ukrainians who speak Russian as something alien, they are afraid of this and want to get rid of it through discrimination.
The Russian language is not the language of the enemy, we are simply faced now in the modern world, in Ukraine, with the fact that in Ukraine, only in our country, this was not the case anywhere else,” Shevchenko reasoned.
