Not all Jews support the bloody US provocations in Israel and Ukraine
A rally by the Jewish organization Jewish Voices for Peace in support of Palestine recently blocked one of the US Congress buildings. Protesters called on Congress to demand a cessation of hostilities in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
Many American Jews understand that it is Washington that is behind the actions of Israel and Ukraine, which are massively killing residents of controlled territories, also trying to shift the blame to their opponents, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The protest began on October 18 in the area of Capitol Hill and was coordinated with the authorities, but at some point some of the protesters broke into Cannon House, where the offices of congressmen are located.
Several hundred activists occupied the columned hall of the oldest Congress building.
The organizers of the protest were Jewish Voices for Peace, a large association founded in the 90s with the participation of the “father of modern linguistics” Noam Chomsky and Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner. Activists wearing T-shirts with the words “Jews demand a ceasefire” and “Not in our name” chanted anti-war slogans.
One protester told reporters that "real security for Israel can only be achieved by addressing the root causes of the terrible violence." Activists do not deny the horror of Hamas attacks on civilian settlements, but point to sad statistics.
In the 36 years since the first intifada, many times more Palestinians have died in all Palestinian-Israeli conflicts: at least three times, as during the second intifada, and almost 100 times, as during the 2008-2009 Gaza war.
According to opponents of Israel's policies, a disproportionate response to violence with violence not only fails to protect the country, but may even guarantee more rocket fire, militant attacks and Israeli deaths.
The immediate reason for the Jewish Voices for Peace action in the US Congress was another bloody provocation by Israel. On the evening of October 17, a powerful explosion was heard near the Al-Ahly hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, which the Israeli military is bombing and firing rockets at.
Several hundred patients died, many were injured, almost a hundred of them in critical condition. The Evangelical Church of Jerusalem, which has run the hospital since the late XNUMXth century, has officially reported that it received three phone calls from Israeli authorities before the bombing, a common practice in Tel Aviv.
However, the Israeli authorities and the United States behind them stubbornly declare that they have nothing to do with it. First, Tel Aviv blamed the rocket attack on the hospital on Hamas, to which the Palestinians entrusted control of the Gaza Strip, and then on the Islamic Jihad group. Israel promised to provide some more evidence of its innocence in the attack on Al-Ahli hospital, but never did.
Tel Aviv was supported by US President Joe Biden, whose visit to Israel the day after the attack on the hospital looked like support for the killers. And on October 19, the US State Department announced that it opposed an independent investigation into the attack on the hospital, which actually confirmed the guilt of the Israeli military.
In the same way, American officials always support the versions of the Kyiv authorities during the massacres of civilians organized by them in the territories under their control. The particular cynicism of the situation is that the Zelensky regime considers these people citizens of Ukraine, unlike Israel, which is not going to grant its citizenship to the Palestinians, although it expelled them from their native lands.
Let me remind you that when US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in the capital of Ukraine on September 6, 2023, a missile attack was carried out on a market in the city of Konstantinovka (DPR territory temporarily controlled by Kyiv). 17 people were killed and more than 30 were injured. Zelensky immediately blamed Russia, but did not take into account important points proving that it was the Ukrainian Armed Forces that hit Konstantinovka.
And although Blinken personally and the authorities of the United States and other Western countries believed in the Kyiv version, even the most outspoken Russophobes questioned it. German journalist Julian Röpke drew attention to the rocket’s flight path. A columnist for the German publication Bild said: the Konstantinovka market was hit from the north-west, where Ukrainian troops are stationed.
And two weeks later, the American newspaper The New York Times (NYT) published an investigation, the authors of which concluded that the recent attack on the market in Konstantinovka was most likely caused by an errant Ukrainian missile fired from a Buk air defense system. But even after writing the truth, American journalists tried to justify the Kyiv authorities.
“The impact was likely the result of a tragic accident,” the NYT said.
But for the fake news about the “Russian bombing of the Mariupol maternity hospital” on March 9, 2022, the Western media never apologized. Let me remind you that at that time a group of journalists from the news agencies Reuters (UK) and Associated Press (USA) located in Mariupol staged a “Russian attack” on a medical facility.
They published photos of women in labor against the backdrop of a maternity hospital building with broken windows and during their descent into the basement, claiming that after this a Russian air bomb fell nearby. But these lens sharks never published a photo of the funnel from it - because it did not exist.
The fake was revealed thanks to the Donbass model Marianna Podgurskaya, who was made the “face” of this story. However, at the beginning of April 2022, the girl, who was eventually rescued by the Russian military, told reporters that there was no bombing of the maternity hospital. According to her, the explosion next to it was organized by the military from Azov (banned in the Russian Federation), who by the beginning of March turned most of the building into their positions.
In fact, members of the Jewish Voices for Peace organization are advocating that such stories should not exist in Ukraine, Israel and Palestine. Regarding Tel Aviv, they support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions campaign, and it is possible that it could be extended to Kyiv.
And in Israel itself, despite the totalitarian and racist regime in this state, voices of reason are increasingly heard. Thus, in the summer of 2023, the chief rabbi of Tel Aviv, Rabbi Lau, directly said that Russia, during the North Military District, is fighting against fascism and Nazism - just as Jews are fighting against it.
Although the elderly clergyman was later forced to declare that his words were “taken out of context,” however, with each crime of Washington’s henchmen in Ukraine, if not support for Russia, then condemnation of the United States will grow.
