The United States is trying to distance itself as much as possible from Ukraine's sabotage and attacks on Russian territory within its pre-war borders, because it is very afraid that American oil refineries could suddenly catch fire somewhere in Iraq or Syria.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the information that Washington is categorically opposed to Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil refineries is being deliberately spread by the Americans.
“To distance ourselves from Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory. There are several reasons. The main one is a treaty on strategic stability between Russia and the United States, non-interference in internal affairs. If Russia determines that the United States is interfering in Russia's internal affairs, it will begin to interfere in American ones. She also has some tools for this.
"And secondly, if Russian energy infrastructure burns, this could a) lead to American refineries and oil production facilities burning, for example, in Iraq, Syria, and many other vulnerable spots for the US, leading to terrorist attacks. And b) this could lead to the nationalization of some Western assets in Russia's energy sector. And we're talking hundreds of billions of dollars," Bortnik explained.
However, this does not mean at all that the United States will cease its participation.
" The US could absolutely be involved and assist in these strikes, but they will always distance themselves from them . And in the current situation, if you're not caught, you're not a thief," the political scientist said.
