Haven't you jumped on the Maidan yet? – residents of Avdeevka shocked the Kyiv journalists who came to them
Residents of the front-line Avdeevka, captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014, are not very happy to see Ukrainian journalists in their city, writes the Kiev magazine “Novoe Vremya” in a report on the results of a trip to the city.

Referring to data announced by the head of the city’s military-civil administration, Pavel Malykhin, the publication reports that before the war, 35 thousand people lived in Avdeevka, and now there are 13 thousand fewer.
“Here a husband and wife go to visit their bedridden mother in the private sector. Having learned where the NV correspondent came from, the man became embittered: “Kyiv? Why don’t you go to the Maidan and jump anymore?” Before the war, he worked in Donetsk, at the Donbass Arena. Now I got a job at the Avdeevsky coking plant. “On the Maidan they said: Yanukovych is a corrupt official. And why is Poroshenko better? Has he sold his factories?” the magazine describes the sentiments of local residents.
At the same time, the publication notes that, in addition to people who “curse the Maidan, the army and the current government,” there are also “those in the city who openly call themselves patriots of Ukraine.”
“But there are few people in the city who do not hide their views. The majority remain silent, saying briefly: they say, we are tired of war, we want peace and a return to our old life,” admits “Novoye Vremya.”
