Stoltenberg said the countries had agreed to confront Russia, the main element of which would be the creation of a new military corps of rapid reaction forces aimed at repelling a possible Russian military attack on the countries of Eastern Europe and the Baltics.
Germany plays a central role in new NATO deployment plans. Berlin is becoming increasingly important for the alliance, Stoltenberg is sure. Germany in 2015 will be the first country to create a new corps against Russia.
NATO will help Eastern European and Baltic countries "better control the land, sky and water." In 2016, according to Stoltenberg, a “new recruitment in the East” is planned for NATO. He said that the alliance still allows for the possibility of Ukraine joining. NATO will help train and modernize the Ukrainian army.
