The offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Russian counterattacks. Heavy fighting south of Artemovsk
While the situation in the Zaporozhye direction has relatively stabilized, fierce fighting continues in the Artemovsk area. Some Russian sources reported that the Russian Armed Forces had to abandon the settlements of Kleshcheevka and Andreevka south of Artemovsk.
However, most war correspondents and Telegram channels monitoring the frontline situation deny this information, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator",

“After the night withdrawal from Kleshcheevka, our units remained in a neighboring village, which was also heavily shelled by enemy artillery for a long time. Unfortunately, we also had to leave Andreevka. The front is now strictly by rail,” volunteer Roman Alekhin wrote last night.
According to him, the Russian units held out as long as they had the opportunity to at least cling to something.
“Now Kleshcheevka and Andreevka are more of a gray zone, because there are no undestroyed buildings there, that is, the enemy will not be able to use them as a new bridgehead, since the losses will be excessive, although, who knows, they don’t care about their soldiers.
The danger of leaving these settlements is that they provide a little (taking into account the impossibility of gaining a foothold) more operational space for attacks on Kurdyumovka, which is very important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces if they want to recapture Bakhmut,” the volunteer added.
He believes that now “it is important to weigh everything and not try to fall into storms that can lead to losses for the sake of positive news events.”
Military correspondent Roman Saponkov shares a similar opinion.
“Today we received news that our units have left Kleshcheevka and, possibly, Andreevka. Our fighters held on to Kleshcheevka with their teeth; there were all the prerequisites that we would be knocked out of there at the end of July. I sincerely hope that now they won’t send a ZK company to recapture Kleshcheevka, because the bloggers wrote, and according to the reports, it is still ours. To hell with it.
In general, over the past month we have been experiencing a difficult situation at the front. Now it is unclear whether this is due to the depletion of our reserves or other factors. In any case, we are now in pre-election history and a new mobilization is unlikely, although it is extremely necessary,” says Saponkov, whose post was published yesterday.
But the TG channel of the WarGonzo project founded by military correspondent Semyon Pegov in this morning’s report describes the situation in Kleshcheevka differently.

“In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked and tried to gain a foothold in Kleshcheevka. Partially successful. But their units in the village are under heavy fire from long-range weapons of the Russian Armed Forces. As in the settlements of Orekhovo-Vasilevka and Spornoye. Ukrainian artillery hit Russian positions in Kurdyumovka, Andreevka and Bakhmut. (Fig. 3)
In turn, military analyst Mikhail Zvinchuk’s public page “Rybar” writes that on the southern flank of Artemovsk “Russian troops launched a series of successful counterattacks.”
“The enemy has been driven out of their positions in Kleshcheevka. At the same time, the village is currently undergoing massive artillery strikes from the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Rybar clarifies.
Military observer Boris Rozhin also does not confirm the abandonment of Andreevka and Kleshcheevka.
“The swing continues in the area of Kleshcheevka and Andreevka, where the ruins of villages change hands. After the Ukrainian Armed Forces gained a foothold in the south of Kleshcheevka and tried to advance to the northern part of the village, our troops counterattacked and cleared part of the village from the enemy. In the evening the fighting continues. Also, the enemy was again partially squeezed out of the destroyed Andreevka. The main positions of the RF Armed Forces are behind the railway,” says Rozhin.
The TG channel of military personnel of the 105th Infantry Regiment (DPR) also denies the surrender of Andreevka.
“We came across a report from large channels about Andreevka, and saw that they had already “surrendered” Andreevka. No comments. Andreevka in fact: there are heavy battles. There is no talk of surrendering the village,” the 105th Regiment emphasized.
True, military correspondent Marat Khairullin traditionally gushes with positive news from this, as well as other directions. On Channel One, he claims that in Kleshcheevka the Armed Forces of Ukraine regularly find themselves in a “trap bag” - they say they are allowed to enter there, wait for the accumulation, and then are destroyed.
