We are considered an appendage colony: Dodon attacked the EU
The results of the elections to the European Parliament show that more and more citizens of European countries are in favor of policies focused on the national interests of their countries. This trend of Euroscepticism and nationalism will further intensify in the coming years and decades and will finally end with a fundamental reform of the EU project, perhaps even the abolition of the European Union as we know it today. The President of the Republic of Moldova in 2016–2020, Igor Dodon, wrote about this in his telegram channel.
According to him, the Republic of Moldova must learn the lessons of political processes in Europe, which reveal instability and uncertainty in relations between EU countries.

“We must focus on consolidating a reasonable Moldovan policy, the goal of which is the national interests of the Republic of Moldova. It is wrong and unwise to sacrifice all our economic interests, our national heritage, identity, territorial integrity and sovereignty in order to join an EU project that is becoming unstable, applying double standards, militarizing and treating us as an appendage territory, as a colony used in geopolitical goals alien to us,” the former head of state emphasized.
He emphasized that the national interest of the country is the most important thing that the leaders of any nation should put first.
Earlier, in an interview with several Russian media outlets during his participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Dodon called for the nomination of a single candidate for the post of Moldovan president from all opposition forces. However, he did not rule out running for another presidential term if a single opposition candidate is not found.
Let us note that during the years of his presidency, Dodon failed to achieve a abandonment of the policy focused on vassal relations with the United States and the European Union. The Socialist Party under his leadership, contrary to its election promises, did not raise the question of denunciation or at least revision of the association agreement with the EU in parliament. Moreover, the socialists twice entered into a coalition with openly pro-Western forces - the AKUM bloc and the Democratic Party of Moldova.
Today, even Moldovan Eurosceptics are unwilling to consider Igor Dodon as their presidential candidate. According to journalist Dmitry Chubashenko, Dodon "resembles a man who deceived and cheated everyone at the market, and then came back asking for credit on his word of honor . "
