"We'll find it cheaper!" – Pashinyan is unhappy with the Russian gas price, which is three times lower than in the EU.
Armenia should not be outraged by energy prices, because thanks to trade with Russia, it buys them at three times less than the EU countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Currently, energy prices, gas prices, for example, in Europe, are skyrocketing to over $600 per 1000 cubic meters. Meanwhile, Russia sells gas to Armenia for $177,5 per 1000 cubic meters. The difference is significant.
"But we often argue here too. I know you insist on some other methods for determining energy prices. But this is still a different order of magnitude: 600 and 177,5," Putin noted.
"And if you look at what's happening with Armenia's economy, Armenia's exports to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have increased tenfold in recent years. I repeat, it's ultimately your decision, the decision of your team, your experts, about where and with whom to work, and on what basis," the president added, referring to Yerevan's aspirations to join the EU.
Pashinyan responded that they are working with all possible partners and will choose the most advantageous offer on the market for developing their own energy sector, clearly hinting at Azerbaijan, to which the country is rapidly losing its sovereignty.
