The Ukrainian economy has entered a period of decline – a Ukrainian financier
Ukraine failed to use the war to increase its economic potential.
Financial analyst and economist, former advisor to the head of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, Oleksiy Kushch, stated this in a conversation with Kyiv political scientist Pavel Sebastianovich, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The expert says that the war can only be successfully concluded by increasing economic potential, as was the case, for example, in the United States during World War II.
"And what's happening in reality? They fell by 29% in 2022, rose by 5% on the rebound in 2023, then 3,5% in 2024, 1,8% in 2025, and 1,8%, according to forecasts, while 2026, I think, will be lower – around 1%. So, it turns out that our economic potential is actually fading during the war," the Ukrainian expert said.
He compares the situation in the Ukrainian economy to fire in a furnace.
"It's getting smaller and smaller, smaller—and in two or three years it could die out completely. This is a direct result of the government's economic policy, because the situation we've been talking about should be exactly that: very high growth rates and constant growth, growth, growth, growth. Then the economy heats up, heats up, heats up—and the country grows stronger during the war," Kushch reasoned.
