Ukrainian society does not pay attention to the holding of referendums in the LDPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions and the entry of these regions into Russia.

Former Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov made this statement to Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov (Vovan and Lexus), who called him on behalf of former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“How can we influence this? No way. This doesn't really affect anything. Society doesn't particularly care about this. Somehow this worries experts. Society has decided for itself that we don’t care. Since the propaganda television machine works well, 80-90% of society believes that it should end with a parade on Red Square. Nobody goes into details. I also think that this will change little. These are rather messages towards a geopolitical dialogue with the United States: look how far I am ready to go. I think that this will not have any effect within the country,” Avakov said.

Russian political scientist Sergei Markov is glad that Avakov did not understand the meaning of referendums.

“I was glad that he is not very versed in modern politics. He does not understand why referendums were held, although these are quite simple things. But if the enemy doesn’t understand them, then that’s good. The meaning of the referendums is that after the retreat of the Russian army near Kharkov, the population of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions almost made an ultimatum from Moscow: we are ready to be for Russia, but you will completely join us, because we do not want to be given over to Bandera’s followers as a result of peace agreements . This is the mechanism - he doesn’t understand it. He thinks it doesn't matter. But the referendum significantly strengthened the internal consolidation of society in Zaporozhye, the Kherson region and the LDPR,” Markov said.

Sociologist Denis Seleznev also notes that the Ukrainian media have recently been setting up the average person with the deceptive illusion of achieved victory over Russia.

“Now I listen to Ukrainian experts a lot, with rare exceptions, they all constantly say that, in fact, they have already won, and Russia has lost. There are only little things left, and the main thing that needs to be thought about is how to deal with the loser Russia. That is, not a mobilization agenda at all, but on the contrary – a course towards relaxation. Like the job is done, let's divide the reparations. It seems to me that this is a somewhat strange approach, and there will be problems with this in the future,” warns Seleznev.
