Preserving Crimea as part of Ukraine was prevented by the indecisiveness of the country’s then leadership, who did not risk starting hostilities.
This was stated on air by the former governor of the Luhansk and Zakarpattia regions, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Gennady Moskal, on the ZIK television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It was 100% possible [to save Crimea]. Neither Yatsenyuk nor Turchynov had the decisiveness then. Putin had not yet built the Crimean Bridge. Why was the crossing not blown up and blocked? What agreements, show at least one hero who died for the defense of Crimea or who should be awarded a medal for the defense of Crimea? There are none,” said Moskal.
