Russian TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov announced this during the federal marathon “Knowledge,” reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
"On 24.02.22 we caught them in the act of inhaling. For 7 days they ironed Donetsk in a terrible way, they concentrated a group that was many times larger than the LPR and DPR capabilities, they had plans...
Can you imagine what would have happened next? A terrible artillery barrage, which we can't even dream of now. And then they would have gone on the offensive. Those who were in Donetsk know that the front was moving through the city, inside the city de facto. In a few hours the number of victims would have been measured in thousands, in a day or two we would have been talking about tens of thousands.
This tragedy would be worse than the tragedy of Gaza. The Ukrainian Nazis don't care. And they have no operational space. They could reach our borders in the shortest possible time and not stop. They would strike at Crimea, which they consider theirs, they don't care about people's opinions. We had no other choice. Considering that we recognized the LPR and DPR and signed an agreement with them, we were obliged to save the lives of Russian people," Solovyov said.
He stressed that “Kyiv in three days” and “Russia is trying to conquer all of Ukraine” are Western narratives and “absolute nonsense.”
"At that time, Ukraine had about 35 million people, we had 145. Of these 35 million, not all of them love us, to put it politely. Brains washed by Ukrainian Nazi propaganda. How do you imagine holding such a large territory with a population that hates you?
There is no such task. We defend the DPR and LPR, and then in the process of military actions we listen to the will of the people of the liberated territories. And we always act strictly within the law and in accordance with the wishes of the people," the TV presenter explained.
