Siberia Airlines (operating under the S7 brand) said that return flights from Kyiv and Odessa were already departing yesterday with delays due to increased time for passenger screening procedures. Three Sibir passengers were deported from Odessa airport.
A Kommersant source in the management of the South-Eastern Railway, a branch of Russian Railways, said that “for a week now, men of any age with Russian passports have been removed from trains going to Kiev, and recently they have begun to remove women as well.”
The FSB border department for the Belgorod and Voronezh regions said that yesterday 45 Russian citizens, including women and children, were taken off the trains. “The wording of the border guards’ refusal sounded wild and strange: “There is no purpose for staying in the country,” the FSB department said.
Ukrainian sanctions could potentially affect up to 45 million citizens of the Russian Federation (the number of men in Russia aged 15 to 59 years, Rosstat data for January 2013; more recent statistics have not been published).
