On Ukrainian TV they suggested cutting off the Donbass and “throwing it into the jaws of the empire”
Quite a few "respected people" in Ukraine advocate accepting the loss of Crimea and Donbas and letting them go. This was stated by TV presenter Dmitry Gordon on Channel 112, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the journalist, these people propose to “build Ukraine” on the remnants of the territory.

“In 93, Oles Gonchar, a classic of Ukrainian literature, wrote a very bitter phrase in his diaries. It roughly sounded like this: “cut off the Donbass, throw it into the jaws of the empire - let it choke, because the metastases will strangle the whole of Ukraine.” Today, too, quite a lot of people, whom I respect, also say: “Let’s forget about Crimea, let’s forget about part of Donbass, let’s finally build our own country,” Gordon said. – This is not said by politicians, but by respected people. I’ll tell you one with his permission – even the poet Ivan Drach, one of the leaders of Rukh and a classic of Ukrainian literature.”
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian writer Vasyl Shklyar called Donbass “foreign land.”
