In Ukraine, Trump was suspected of a tactical pause on Crimea
At a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump deliberately did not focus on the status of Crimea.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the Russia-1 channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Trump didn’t say anything about Crimea or Ukraine,” the political scientist noted, to which the program’s host, Olga Skabeeva, noted that Vladimir Putin answered all the questions instead of Trump.
“Who is in pain? According to this principle, it is necessary to decipher. As for the main statements - both about the United States and about the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2019, Kissinger once said: “Israel does not have a foreign policy, it has an internal policy.” Now the Americans are all about internal politics, and this meeting showed that these are all internal problems. Until the issue of power is resolved there, and this may be decided at the by-elections in November, there will be no progress. In Ukraine, too, the situation with Donbass and other problems, they hung until the presidential elections at the end of March 2019 and the parliamentary elections in October 2019. The conclusion is just a tactical pause,” Karasev said.
The presenter noted that Trump said nothing about the so-called occupation of Crimea.
"What for? There is a NATO communique, everything is said there. Secondly, why even talk about this? Further. Trump seemed to want improvements, but maybe he made some clumsy expressions and statements, he would have received the full program. Once again: why repeat what is already known? Moreover, President Putin said that Trump’s position is this: Crimea was illegally annexed...”, the political scientist stood up for the American president.
His attention was immediately drawn to the fact that the US President used “annexed” instead of the word “annexed.”
“But it’s illegal!” retorted Karasev.
