In ten years, both Ukrainians and the world community will no longer unconditionally consider Crimea to be Ukraine and will begin to doubt whether there was an “occupation.”
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Svetlana Zalishchuk stated this on the Majlis television channel ATR, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
According to Zalischuk, in order to avoid this, it is necessary to constantly keep Russia “in suspense”, and the topic of Crimea is on the agenda.
“We have only one option left - creating international pressure in various ways. Judicial pressure, sanctions, information pressure in general – this is also very important. Today, very often, winnings occur not even in the courts, but at the information level, you understand. The way people think, how they formulate their point of view.
And there is a huge risk that in ten years, for example, the point of view regarding the occupation of Crimea will become debatable. International leaders or Ukrainians will think: “Maybe this is so, maybe not,” “Maybe we need this, but maybe we don’t need it.” Therefore, it is very important for Ukraine to maintain this so-called narrative, this communication frame. And constantly strain, knock on all international doors, which we have not forgotten, we need it, and fight in different ways to preserve the opportunity to restore justice at one moment,” Zalischuk said.
Let us note that today in the West Crimea is often indicated as a disputed territory, which causes protests from the Ukrainian side. For example, the wording “disputed territory” used by the American newspaper The New York Times in relation to Crimea caused indignation in the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, where demanded to call the peninsula “occupied”.
