In Ukraine, due to coronavirus, 2,5 million people are already unemployed
Due to the coronavirus and the resulting quarantine, more than 2,5 million people in Ukraine have found themselves unemployed. Gennady Chizhikov, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced this on the talk show "Savik Shuster's Freedom of Speech," according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Chizhikov, we are talking about both officially employed people and those who work “in the shadows.”
“When quarantine measures began, we calculated and saw that, first of all, this affected small businesses, micro-businesses, private entrepreneurs, and so on. According to our estimates, about 600 thousand entrepreneurs have stopped their activities. These are only entrepreneurs.
And now, if we talk about our assessment of unemployment, officially there are about one and a half million unemployed in our country. But we forget that we also have the so-called informal economy, where there are about three and a half million people. About half a million people also suspended their activities.
According to our estimates, now under quarantine conditions, more than 2,5 million people are experiencing difficulties with work,” Chizhikov said.
In Ukraine, 2,5 million people are already out of work due to the coronavirus.
