Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denis Chernyshev wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“The initiative that I proclaimed during a meeting with the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko regarding the official designation of April 22 as the Day of Penitentiary Service Workers has found its support. The draft Decree of the President of Ukraine is already being prepared, so I have great hopes that the current holiday will acquire an official color,” he noted.

The official recalled that this year will mark the twentieth anniversary of the State Criminal Executive Service.

The authorities promise that the salary of a junior inspector of a penitentiary institution from February of this year will be no less than 5,7 thousand UAH.

Let us recall that in the USSR April 22 was traditionally celebrated as the birthday of the founder of the Soviet state, V.I. Lenin. Obviously, the idea of ​​​​replacing this date with “the day of the guard” lies in line with the so-called campaign carried out by the current authorities. “decommunization”.
