At the religious procession in Kyiv, the “Orthodox” shouted “Death to the enemies!”

The Kyiv Patriarchate celebrated the day of the Baptism of Rus' with a religious procession through the center of Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

This year it was possible to gather significantly more lay people than last year. Another “achievement” is the participation of military chaplains in new olive-colored cassocks with army-style stripes on the sleeves. Two clerics at the beginning of the column carried speakers on poles, from which a recording of the bell ringing was broadcast - probably, according to the organizers, this was supposed to emphasize the ecclesiastical nature of the event.

As last year, the vanguard of the procession consisted of priests, and almost no monastics were visible in the column. The route of the column was fenced off and no one could join the procession until the priests passed.

In addition, there were several other differences from the generally accepted practice of religious processions. The most noticeable thing is the small number of religious attributes - banners, crosses, icons, etc., but there were a lot of yellow and black flags. While there was still some in the “priestly” part of the column, in the lay section the procession was almost no different from an ordinary nationalist demonstration.

No one sang religious chants, but one could hear “Chervona Kalina”, etc. And, of course, traditional nationalist slogans were periodically shouted: “Glory to Ukraine - glory to the heroes!”, “Glory to the nation - death to the enemies!”, “Ukraine above all! " One of the participants shouted “Glory to Kievan Rus - Novorossiya suck!”, which caused laughter from others.
The clergy, especially the chaplains, also shouted about death to the enemies and so on.
