Moscow - Simferopol, January 27 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - The Russian organization “Public Consumer Initiative” (OPI) filed a lawsuit against Apple, which, by banning official servicing of its equipment in Crimea, violated Russian legislation on the protection of consumer rights. The organization assures that it has prepared and will soon file similar lawsuits against other companies that have also announced restrictions for consumers in Crimea for political reasons.

The lawsuit was filed on Monday in the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow, reported “To Kommersant” Chairman of the OPI Oleg Pavlov. The organization is convinced that Apple, with its ban, violates Russian legislation on consumer protection, because it is now impossible to ensure the possibility of repair and maintenance of its products in Crimea. In addition, the seller is obliged to conclude an agreement with any consumer and ensure delivery to any region. Apple ignores the interests of consumers and Russian laws. “Russian citizens who purchase products from Western companies should not become hostages of the political situation,” says OPI.

The organization assures that it has prepared and will soon file similar lawsuits against companies that have also announced restrictions for consumers in Crimea for political reasons. Let us remind you that Hewlett-Packard, Dell, PayPal and Google also decided to leave Crimea.
