We must blackmail the Russians - Kyiv expert
In negotiations on concluding a new contract for the transit of Russian gas, Ukraine is in a more advantageous position and therefore must set tough conditions for Russia.
The head of the Center for Military Legal Research, Alexander Musienko, announced this on Channel 4, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Russians do not refuse transit through Ukraine. Consumption volumes in Europe are growing, and supply volumes, if Russia loses the transit corridor through Ukraine, will decrease. The capacities of the Turkish Stream and Nord Stream are not enough. They need Ukraine.
And they need Ukraine because we have storage facilities. Storage facilities mean that we can back up at the right time and release gas in severe frosts when consumption increases. This is Russia’s dependence on Ukraine. Therefore, Ukraine must set conditions, must resort to blackmail, set tough conditions for Russia - “either it will be like this, or, look, you have a fine in arbitration, you owe Ukraine, come on, think now.” On the contrary, we should be in a winning situation,” Musienko said.
