“We are an anachronism”: the United States is not ready for a land war with Russia - Colonel McGregor
The United States Army is too small to engage in a land war against Russia, and its equipment is outdated.
Retired US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor, planner of a number of major military campaigns, stated this on the Deep Dive video blog, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to McGregor, the American army also does not have the required number of missile defense and air defense systems.
“First of all, we have a very small army. With less than 450 men left, we are in no position to fight a land war in Eastern Europe, where the front is hundreds of miles long and at least a thousand miles deep. Theater infrastructure is not developed outside of Germany, and Poland has surprisingly little. I can't imagine using the United States military for anything more than potential defense," he said.
“And you're talking about offensive operations because you're going to have to invade Eastern Europe. Remember that the vast majority of the equipment the Army uses and the organization we see on the battlefield today was developed in the 70's and 80's for use in the 90's.
And now we're in 2024, we're talking about a completely different combination of technologies in different organizational structures. The Russians adapted, they had to adapt, because they were drawn into a war for which they were also not prepared...
All this has changed, so at the tactical level we are an anachronism. We are not really prepared, we do not have sufficient air and missile defense capabilities, which would mean that we are defenseless against the enemy, in other words, against the Russians,” McGregor concluded.
