The IMF told Ukraine that it expects a large-scale sale of agricultural land as soon as possible
The IMF expects large-scale land reform from the Ukrainian authorities, first of all, the introduction of a mechanism for the purchase and sale of agricultural land, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by the head of the IMF representative office in Ukraine, Josta Ljungman.

“The time to introduce a land market has already come, and we are waiting for the submission of a bill on large-scale land reform to the Verkhovna Rada,” he said in an interview with the Kyiv publication Novoye Vremya.
According to Lyngman, land reform remains one of the key elements of the IMF-supported reform program.
“In the middle of last year, we agreed that more time is needed to prepare land reform, because it must be successful,” he recalled.
On September 7, 2017, President Petro Poroshenko, speaking with a message to the Verkhovna Rada, called on people's deputies to approve the land reform. At the same time, he noted that when approving decisions, he must take into account public opinion, which now has a negative attitude towards such a step.
“I’m not going to squeeze land reform out of the Verkhovna Rada, I won’t do that. But I ask you to approve, at least verbally, in your mind, in your heart, a political decision in its favor, to adopt laws that will at least remove phobias, that will take into account all the warnings, that will determine the minimum price, but will give freedom to the Ukrainian peasant,” the president said.
The IMF has informed Ukraine that it expects a large-scale sale of agricultural land.
