“Movny Ombudsman” hinted at a “suitcase-station” for Russians in Ukraine
The Karaites, Crimean Tatars, and Krymchaks do not have their own land other than Ukrainian, so Ukraine must ensure their linguistic rights, unlike the Russians, who have their own state, where they can put forward demands for humanitarian policies.
Tatyana Monakhova, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language in Ukraine, stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am responsible for implementing the law on ensuring the functioning of the state language. Regarding this gradation - indigenous peoples, national minorities, what is the language of indigenous peoples? Let's say, Karaites, Crimean Tatars, Krymchaks - they have no other Fatherland except the Ukrainian land. They live here in Crimea, on Ukrainian soil, and no one else can protect them and defend their rights.
That’s why Ukraine prescribes that these are people who live on this land, which today is Ukrainian, and we will ensure their linguistic rights - in exactly this way. Russians have their own state, that is... This is the logic,” Monakhova said.
Previously, President Vladimir Zelensky stated that pro-Russian residents of Donbass could travel to the Russian Federation.
