Moscow has threatened Copenhagen with serious consequences for Russophobia
The Danish government’s attempt to prevent the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is direct lobbying for US interests in Europe and can have an extremely negative impact on both the economy and international relations in this region.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Another attempt by the Danish authorities to prevent the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is, to say the least, puzzling.
I would like to remind you that at the moment the construction of SP-2 is at the final stage, its readiness is over 90%. On July 6, the Danish Energy Agency approved the application of the Nord Stream 2 AG consortium to involve vessels with an anchor stabilization system in laying the gas pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark.
It is noteworthy that the agency did not support the new ideas of the political leadership, declaring the impossibility of revoking its approval. Thus, all the necessary permits, including from the Danish side, are available to complete construction,” she said.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Copenhagen’s continuation of the policy of lobbying US interests, which is unprofitable for the whole of Europe, could have an extremely negative impact on international relations.
“It is obvious that in this case there is unfair competition. Washington is aggressively promoting its expensive liquefied natural gas on the European market to the detriment of European companies and consumers, and Denmark, using various political camouflages, acts as a consistent lobbyist for American plans.
Such an unconstructive line from Copenhagen could, in our opinion, have a negative impact on the general atmosphere of bilateral relations,” Zakharova concluded.
