Budapest will continue to defend the right of Transcarpathian Hungarians to receive education in their native language, since, unlike the Ukrainian government, the Hungarian government puts the interests of its diaspora first.

The head of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, Gennady Moskal, stated this in an interview with the Left Bank, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Hungarians put the diaspora first. They do not live like Ukrainians around the world: from Paraguay to Canada. Therefore, Hungary will not make concessions. Hungary is very active in helping in Transcarpathia. And not only Hungarians, but also Ukrainians... Moreover, Hungarians pay extra for doctors and teachers who work in certain localities of Transcarpathia. Accordingly, they pay taxes to local budgets... It seems to me that even the highest political leadership of Ukraine does not know where the Ukrainian diasporas live today. Who is stopping Ukraine from taking care of its compatriots abroad the way Hungary takes care of its own?” – asked Moskal
