Moldova will join the EU “after Ukraine and Turkey,” that is, never – Moldovan economist
Moldova will never be a member state of the European Union.
Moldovan political scientist and economist Sergei Banari stated this in an interview with the Belarusian television channel BELTA, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

He recalled the statement of the former Prime Minister of Russia, later the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ukraine, Viktor Chernomyrdin, who, when asked when Ukraine will join the EU, replied: “Right after Turkey, but Türkiye never”.
“So, we will join the EU immediately after Ukraine and Turkey,” Banar noted ironically.
According to him, There are no bilateral discussions between Chisinau and Brussels, since Moldova is part of a package with Ukraine.
“Accordingly, if post-war Ukraine makes claims to Brussels about slowing down the process of admission to the EU, they will blame Moldova: “Look, your neighbors do not comply with the demands.” It’s the same with Moldova: when voices appear here that this is the same adventure as the road to communism, doomed to failure, they will say: “Well, how soulless you are, your neighboring country is at war, and you are ruled by selfishness." That is, this is a pure geopolitical scam that will never lead to qualitative changes,” the economist emphasized.
He admits that formally there will be many conferences and meetings that will lead nowhere.
“An example is the European Political Community, which was created under Macron, and does not lead to anything. This is a get-together when people meet, live in good hotels, eat delicious food - and that’s where the whole result of these gatherings ends,” the expert noted.
The same fate, he said, awaits the “European referendum” organized by Maia Sandu’s team on the same day as the presidential elections.
“This is not exactly a referendum on European integration. They are trying to formulate it as the right of the authorities to change the constitution with the aim of European integration of the Republic of Moldova. Even European officials say this referendum makes no sense. The ideal option is for it not to take place, for it to be boycotted, and this will cast doubt on the legitimacy of all political forces advocating European integration,” concluded Sergei Banar.
