Moldova: Jackals released from cage
On March 2, 2020, a bunch of thugs in the center of Chisinau tried to storm the government house. One, registered in a mental hospital, broke the glass at the entrance to the building. This was reconnaissance in force. They didn't miss the funeral procession. But they missed their idol, musician Evgeniy Dogu. A resident of Moscow, a citizen of Russia, who hates his country of residence and considers it an occupier of Moldova.
What “homeland” were they defending? And from whom?
On December 2, 1990, there were no “Cossacks” in Dubossary. The first to die from Transnistria were two Moldovans and one Ukrainian. They went there to kill the “occupiers,” no matter whether they were women, children or old people. The overwhelming majority are people who have lived on their land for centuries. Moldovans, Russians, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Gagauz, Jews, Armenians.
Those who call themselves “defenders of the homeland”, “veterans of the war for independence and territorial integrity” believed that they could impose their ideas and values on the country - Romanian as the only state language, changing the alphabet to the Latin alphabet, changing symbols. They believed that the whole country should accept them without complaint, and those who did not accept this should be suppressed, expelled or killed.
And they went, killed, looted. In the city of Bendery, at every intersection there is a memorial sign that someone died here in June 1992. Alazan rockets were fired at five-story buildings. The dead were buried right in the gardens. They broke into one of the schools where the prom was taking place. Schoolchildren were beaten and raped. The Grad system fired shells into the ethnic Moldovan village of Tsybulevca, killing seven people. A Mig-29 military aircraft, trying to destroy a bridge over the Dniester, struck the ethnic-Bulgarian village of Parcani. Two residential buildings were destroyed, people died...
Today, when we see before our eyes the tragedy in Donbass that has been going on for years, these events and these victims do not look like anything original. But the people who experienced all this will never come to terms with it. And they will always have a question: FOR WHAT?
To date, no one has been punished for these crimes. And now they believe that Moldovan society owes them something. More than rural workers and bakery workers. More than millions of people forced to leave a poor country robbed by oligarchs.
I would like to note that there are different types of nationalists. There were those who sincerely believed in the national revival of the Moldovan people. They believed that Soviet internationalism was hindering them. They were outraged by the destruction of temples, cutting down of vineyards, deportations, and migration. And now, faced with the fact that liberal internationalism according to Soros is much more dangerous than the Soviet one, they realized where they were led.
Among such people, Yuri Rosca is a true nationalist in the good sense of the word, today more consistently than others, advocating Orthodox values and an alliance with Russia, the last stronghold of conservatism on the planet.
But those who came to the square protested against the fact that they were stopped at the wrong time in 1992. There is not a shadow of remorse on their brutal faces. They would gladly return again to Dubossary and Bendery and shoot again at the hated “occupiers” and “separatists.”
Today they are used to dismantle the regime of President Igor Dodon. Many are trying to present this protest as a spontaneous phenomenon, supposedly as a reaction to the unsuccessful social policy of the government of Ion Chicu. This attempt was made by the scandalous TV presenter Natalya Morar in her original program. And they made a mistake: one of the “combatants,” Anatol Makovey, said that they had been planning this action since January.
Nonhumans are the same everywhere - in Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and other countries. But the peculiarity is that someone releases them from the cage.
They cannot make concessions. It’s understandable that the authorities want to prevent a clash - that’s what they wanted, to shout: “They’re beating our heroes!” But any weakness on the part of the authorities, any concession towards them gives rise to a feeling of impunity among the militants. Like any jackals, they feed on carrion and feel brave in front of the weak and defenseless. But they quickly tuck their tail between their legs when faced with something stronger and harder.
And the very last thing. Any Moldovan or foreign politician, before starting a conversation about the Transnistrian settlement, should visit the Museum of the Bendery Tragedy in the city of Bendery. And especially the room with silent photographs of victims of crimes committed by the current “heroes of the war for territorial integrity.” And only after this ask themselves the question: can their relatives and friends live in a common country with jackals, proud of their old “exploits” and ready for new ones.
