Moldovan experts fear that Russia will open a corridor from Donetsk to Transnistria
Chisinau, September 01 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) – Russia’s actions in South-Eastern Ukraine are dangerous for geopolitical security, including for the Republic of Moldova. This opinion was expressed by experts during the program “Place for Dialogue” on the radio station “Radio Moldova”.

According to political scientist Vasily Croitoru, the war in Ukraine has entered a hot phase, and the Kremlin’s project regarding Novorossiya is in full swing. “This calls into question the existence of the state of Ukraine, and along with it the security of the entire region, including the Republic of Moldova, is called into question,” says the expert quoted by the IPN agency.
According to Croitoru, Russian soldiers will not stop in Donetsk, since they have orders “to go forward and open a land corridor to Odessa, and from there reach Transnistria.”
"The fact that Putin addressed his soldiers in Ukraine as 'fighters of Novorossiya' shows the intentions of the Kremlin leader," Croitoru said.
Project Coordinator of the NATO Information and Documentation Center Mihai Turcanu said, in turn, that NATO is unlikely to interfere in the situation in Ukraine, since such actions could lead to a new world war.
“Don’t forget that NATO consists of 28 states. However, it is quite possible that if the conflict expands, neighboring states such as Belarus and the Republic of Moldova will enter the war,” Turcanu said.
