Minsk hints at the collapse of the EAEU without Moscow's concessions to Belarus
The prospects for the Eurasian Economic Union depend on whether Russia and Belarus reach an agreement.
This was stated today by his Belarusian colleague Sergei Rumas before the start of negotiations with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the PolitNavigatra correspondent reports.
“I think that the movement in the “five” will largely depend on how close we bring our positions,” the Russian government website quotes Rumas.
According to him, the most difficult issues in the integration negotiations concerned tariffs for pumping energy resources.
“I even admit that at the level of prime ministers we may not remove them; the issues will be brought to the attention of the presidents. But overall, great progress has been made on the strategy, and this limited number of issues that remain does not prevent this document from being submitted to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council,” Rumas reassured.
He also met today with his former colleague, and now Deputy Chairman of the UN Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev. Rumas asked whether Belarus remains in his sphere of interests.
“Without any doubt, we are friends, we are brothers, neighbors,” Medvedev replied.
